Columbia River/Talk

Question: the Columbia even beats out the Yukon,--the mighty, mighty Yukon? Delete this question when adjudicated properly... --LMS

Probably depends on how you define 'beats'. The Yukon is almost twice the length of the Columbia (2000 mi vs. 1250 mi), but is not nearly as developed and harnessed. It's interesting to think that as much benefit as the Columbia has been for providing electricity, the Yukon could probably provide an equal amount, and is largely untapped (likely for good reason.)

I was questioning the claim, "The Columbia River is the largest river in volume flowing into the Pacific Ocean from North America." That could certainly be true, for all I know, but I wonder if the person who wrote it specifically knows that the Yukon doesn't hold this claim to fame. --LMS
