Christkindl Markt (translation Christ child market), is a market or bazaar held during the Advent? month of pre Christmas December in many cities and towns in Germany.

Some of the most popular items are the Nussknacker or carved Nutcracker figurines, Krippen or creches (cribs with Jesus child in the manger), the Shepherds and the Three Wise Men. Gebrannte Mandeln or toasted almonds , assorted cookies and Christ Stollen and the Gluehwein , hot mulled wine keep the body going. Any other crafts and toys , books and more or less usefull gadgeds can be found at a Christkindl Markt.

Travel tours to several cities including the most famous Nuremberg Christkindl Markt are very popular travel locations.

German immigrants to America brought the Christmas celebrations with them and there are some Christkindl Markt events held in the US as well.
