Franchise history
Originally founded in the city of St. Paul, Minnesota, as a team in the minor [Western League]?. When the Western League changed its name to the [American League]? and claimed major league status, the St. Paul franchise was relocated to Chicago.
Sadly, the club is best known for the infamous "Black Sox" scandal of 1919, in which eight of its players were barred from organized baseball for life for taking part in a plot by gamblers to "fix" the World Series.
