British Labour Party

One of the two main political parties of Britain.

It came into power after the Second World War and started building up a "cradle to grave" welfare state. Throughout the rest of the twentieth century Labour governments alternated with Tory Party governments.

Under Tony Blair Labour has moved more to the center and away from its socialist origins.
