Christina abdicated her throne in 1654, openly avowing her previously secret Catholicism, and moved to Rome. Her wealth and former position made her a center of society. She left her large and important library to the popes on her death, and a common cataloging abbreviation in the the [Vatican Library]? is Reg. (or Reginae), meaning the "Queen's collection."
