The Right Honourable Sir Mackenzie Bowell (27 December 1823 - 10 December 1917) was born in Rickinghall, England. He emigrated to Canada in 1832. In 1847 he married Harriet Moore (1829-1884) and with her had four sons and five daughters. He succeeded as leader of the Liberal-Conservative party in 1894 and held one term in the office of Prime Minister from 1894-1896. He died in Belleville, Ontario at the age of 93. |
