Louis I the Great

Louis I the Great acceeded as king of Hungary in 1342. He was the son of [Charles I Robert]?, king of Hungary from the dynasties of the Anjou? and Capet?.He died in 1382.

Louis' mother was Elizabeth, the daughter of [Wladyslaw Lokietek]?, the sister of Casimir III the Great, king of Poland.

When the Polish Piast? rulers died out in 1370, Louis I the Great, king of Hungary became king of Poland also.

Louis had two daughters :

• Hedwig or Jadwiga, queen of Poland
• Mary of Hungary , queen of Hungary
