Synchronised swimming is an Olympic sport, but is not particularly well regarded by many fans of more traditional sports. They see little aesthetic merit in the performances and are dubious about a sport judged by what are, in their minds, highly subjective criteria. Competitors reply by pointing to the strength, flexibility, and endurance required to perform difficult routines.
