The Sega Game Gear was Sega's response to Nintendo's Game Boy. It was released in 1991 and was basically a pocket [Sega Master System]?, though it seemed to have arguably better graphics. To make a long story short, it was mercilessly crushed by the Game Boy juggernaught eben though it was technically superior. It did have a few setbacks: backlit screen drained batteries faster than anything, it was huge, and the game variety was small to say the least. Today, the Game Gear was considered to be a failure.
