The Porsche 924 was the first
automobile sold by
Porsche fitted with a front-mounted, water-cooled
engine. Originally designed for
VAG to be a replacement for the co-branded [Porsche 914]
?, it was later released as a
Porsche only design in 1976. A large number of components originated from
VAG though, including the engine.
Later models of the car was fitted with turbo and a larger engine in the 924S model.
The car was later replaced by the Porsche 944.
