The "Polish Corridor" was a stretch of land, which divided post-World War I Germany into two parts (East Prussia was separated from the rest of Germany), giving Poland access to the Baltic Sea. This was one of the results of the Treaty of Versailles.

In 1939, Hitler demanded free passage of German trains and troops to East Prussia and back. The Polish government refused.
