Mecha is also a word used in the film 'A.I. Artificial Intelligence' to describe 'mechanicals' (being robots), as opposed to 'orga' for 'organics' (non-robots).

Mecha is a style of Anime that has in it a plot and/or characters based around very big machines or robots. Excellent examples are Gundam Wing, Robotech, etc.
