While the culture of Canada shares much with its English roots and American neighbors, it also has many unique elements, some influenced by attempts to integrate the French-Canadian minority and attempts to differentiate itself from English and American culture.

One of these is a unique sense of humor. The comedy group [Second City]? originated in Canada and produced many comedians that went on to success worldwide, including [John Candy]?, [Rick Moranis]?, [Dave Thomas]?, [Katherine Ohara]?, and others. Their humor and something of their politics is further evidenced by the result of a contest held by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. They asked people to submit a completion to the phrase "As Canadian as...". The winning entry was "As Canadian as...possible under the circumstances."
