Web commerce is an type of Electronic commerce. It refers to the area of business which is conducted primarily through the World Wide Web, but may also utilize email and other aspects of the Internet.

Stores set up websites to display their goods or, in some cases, services. Consumers then access the site with a Web browser and make selections. Payment can be handled in a variety of ways, including [credit card]?, mailed cheque?, or a phone call to a [900 number]?.

In the instances of credit card payment, the shopkeeper will employ some advanced security technique such as Secure Sockets Layer or TLS? sockets to encrypt the purchaser's sensitive information.
