?'s New York World newspaper but moved to the Hearst
? newspaper, Journal American in 1897 where it was part of the first Sunday comics section.
It figured in the public debate in the United States concerning the Spanish-American War when Hearst newspaper's warmongering was called yellow journalism after the strip.
