Techno-oligarchy

A techno-oligarchy arises when the control of society falls into the hands of a few, who use technological means, such as control over communications media like radio, television, etc. to enforce their rule of society.

An example of a techno-oligarchy would be a society where a few wealthy mega-corporations owned the range of entertainment, news, and telecommunications, including media used for the education of the youth, and used this control to subtly indoctrinate the population to favor or disfavor principles and policy's as the rulers wish.
