Star Wars/Jar Jar Binks

A Gungan? resident of the planet Naboo? who falls in with the party of Qui-Gon?, [Ben Kenobi]?, Queen Amidala, and [Anakin Skywalker]? in [The Phantom Menace]?. Largely intended to provide slapstick comic relief, his stupidity and pseudo-Jamaican talk and gait were found incredibly annoying and even racist by many adult fans of the original trilogy. The portrayal of the character was notable in that no puppetry or made-up actors were used for him - he was entirely computer-generated and added in post-production.

An unauthorised but widely-circulated re-edit of the film, [The Phantom Edit]?, removed most of Jar Jar scenes (amongst others) and was regarded by many who saw it as far superior to Lucas's cut.
