Stalking off in a huff

Wikipedia is supposed to be fun. That's right, fun. There is a serious side to it, of course, but ultimately if it wasn't fun, it wouldn't happen. Now, why aren't you having fun? Are you

• Grinding an axe?

• Proselytizing?

• Taking everything everyone here says or does personally?

• Engaging in some other form of self-destructive behavior?

The point is this: Socially, wikipedia is a small, small corner of a big world. There is lots to do other than hang out on Wikipedia, most of which is at least as much fun (well, at least semi-fun). If people here are truly annoying, don't just stalk away in a huff, breaking your toys and kicking sand in everyone's faces. Just go away. Come back when your blood pressure is back in the normal range.

However small Wikipedia is socially, it is much much larger intellectually. Terabyte storage is very close to reality for cgi-driven web sites, thus there is or will be virtually unlimited space to discuss anything at whatever depth you so desire. If you so desire to work on popular or controversial topics, well, you will have to learn to play well with others. If not, do what some of us do and stick to arcane topics of incredibly limited interest to anyone outside of narrow academic specialists and undergraduate term paper writers.

The choice is yours.
