Food traditionally eaten by southern African Americans. Soul food includes chitterlings, ham hocks, and collard greens.

Soul food restaurants are mostly in the south, but can also be found in major northern cities such as Chicago, where displaced white Southerners find them a great comfort. With the exception of chitterlings, which are characteristic of African American cookery, the term Soul Food could apply to white Southern cookery as well.
