Rani Lakshmi Bay

Rani Laksmi Bay was the female leader of Jhansi?, in the [Maratha Empire]?. Her territory was taken from her under the [Doctrine of Lapse]? in 1853. She led a revolt against the British during the [Events of 1857]? and died fighting.

Later, when the [Indian National Army]? created a female unit, it was named after her.
