The Simpsons/Joe Quimby

The mayor of Springfield, and a slick, sleazy politician whose only interest is staying in power for the fringe benefits it brings, which apparently include large numbers of nubile young women. With the assistance of his equally slick, sleazy aides, he will turn up at any public event and promise exactly what the audience wants to hear - for instance, after discovering that the only thing that interests the residents of the Springfield Retirement Home is Matlock? (a TV detective series of the early 1990's), he promptly decides to name a new freeway the "Matlock Expressway". It is occasionally alluded that "Diamond" Joe Quimby is linked to the local Mob branch of Fat Tony.
