Also, subparts of organs, e.g. the [pituary gland]? or hypothalamus? within the brain are distinct regions of cells within a mulitcelluar organism that perform a distinct function, hence by the above definition they would be organs, yet normally they are not seen as independent organs but rather as parts of organs.
