Olive oil

Olive oil is an oil that has long been in use around the Mediterranean Sea. It is produced by the pressing of olives and has a very high fat content. Olives may be pressed a number of times, and with each pressing the quality of the oil is reduced. The oil from the first pressing may be called extra virgin. The oil is today mainly used for cooking purposes, but was used in medicines, cosmetics, soaps, and for lighting.
