Many thousands of place-names in Prussia were in Old Prussian language. The river of Angerapp for example means Eel River . Old Prussian (AltPreussische) placenames were all changed after the 1945 communist take-over of the land and ousting of the people ( see wikipedia Heimatvertriebene).
