Malmö is the third largest of
Sweden's cities, with a population that reflects that. Still it retains a lot of its historical charm, with an 'old town' section filled with small shops, as well as the south's largest teaching university. Great nightlife - lots of good bands tend to play at various venues or in the many plazas. There's always a festival of some kind going on. For history buffs there's a fabulous castle, housing a small city museum and a fairly large art gallery. There are many other, smaller museums as well.
There is a bridge that crosses Öresund to Copenhagen on the southcoast of Malmö. It's about a year old (in 2001), and it's quite beautiful when it rises out of the sea-fog in the mornings and evenings.
