Maglevs, or Magnetic Levitation, are trains that are propelled by the forces of magnetism, and are suspended in the air, leading to very little friction. They can obtain speeds of up to 400 miles per hour. Maglevs are potentially very important to the future of society because it is a cheaper, easier substitute for some airline routes, and is sometimes faster and safer. This may lead to suburbs extending nearly indefinitely and cities joining together, because it can take only an hour to travel several hundred miles to work in the city. Transportation using maglev systems can be a quick, easy, environmentally-friendly affair.
