A frontline is a line of confrontation in an [armed conflict]?, most often a war. On either side of the frontline are the forces of the various combatant?s. In modern warfare?, a frontline is seldom to be found, due to the broken nature of mechanized combat, and instead a zone of confrontation forms a wide band where forces engage in battle.

The war that to date has had the most clearly defined frontline is World War I, where the frontline was at almost all places marked by dug trench?es.

Also the name of an Australian televsion series.
