Diabetes is rather a generic term, mostly relating to the use or production of
insulin in the human body. To a layman or as a form of ellipsis it can mean [diabetes mellitus]
?.
Etymology of the word comes from
Greek and means "excess of urine".
Passing abnormal volume of urine can be a leading symptom of several
diseases, most commonly, of kidneys but suprisingly word diabetes
is connected with two completely different diseases :
- [diabetes insipudus]?
- and [diabetes mellitus]?
