[Home]Declination

In astronomy, declination is, along with right ascension, one of the two equatorial coordinates used to define position on the celestial sphere. It is similar to latitude on the Earth, and is measured as degrees north of the celestial equator. Points north of the celestial equator therefore have positive declination, and points south of it have negative declination.
