Sometimes the term classical is used to distinguish the period between
baroque and
romantic. In this sense classical music begins approximately with
Haydn and
Mozart and ends with
Beethoven. It is distinquished by the use of crescendo
? to accent suspension and return to the tonic
?. Earlier composers did not have as many tools of crescendo; later composers found more more varied uses for those tools.
