These books form a remarkable and fascinating sequence through 40 s say until 2000īs, many reflections and parallels on secret history, bankers, CIA, post war Germany, Nixon.
Are more than rewarding to read in the sequence above. For me the other 2, Bride, and Lucky Bastard do not work. Despite denials the lucky book is just a little too close to the clinton fact and fables.
Julian Symons lamented once that McCarry? had fallen a little too much in love with PC, perhaps, but the end result, a reflection rather than parallel to American political life, secret and not, is worthwhile.
There is also an amazing movie travesty floating around but which I will not say.
Finally the quality of prose is unusually high.
