Beeb

An affectionate term used to refer to the British Broadcasting Corporation, or BBC, or even Aunty Beeb or merely Aunty.

The BBC set up Beeb as a separate company to manage the corporation's merchandising, due to legal restrictions imposed on the BBC as it is funded by public money. It allows the BBC to raise money through the sale of videos, audio cassettes and memorabilia, as well as being a source of funds for projects which are outside of the BBC's remit, and thus cannot use license fee payers money.
