Alfred William Lawson (1869-1954). He was involved in the organization of professional baseball in the US, and the US aircraft industry. He later went on to form his own philosophy Lawsonomy?, and the [Lawsonian religion]?. He also developed during the Great Depression the populist economic theory of [direct credit]?s, according to which banks are the cause of all economic woe, the oppressors of both capital and labour. Lawson believed that the government should provide replace banks as the provider of loans to business and workers. He founded the so-called University of Lawsonomy to spread his teachings.

Lawson has been described as the "Leonardo da Vinci of kooks" [[1]].
