A wikipedia is an encyclopedia-like project built using wiki software.
[Nupedia] is not built using wiki software (it is carefully peer-reviewed), and therefore it is not a wikipedia. The principals of
[Nupedia], however, are interested in exploring the wiki idea as a
supplement to Nupedia, not as part of Nupedia's editorial process.
