SabBath

"Day of rest", from the Hebrew word "shabbat", meaning rest. The seventh or last day of the week. The first sabbath was the "day" God rested after having completed the creation in six "days".

Early Christians honored the Sabbath on Saturday, the seventh day, and met again on Sunday (the "eight" day, see Acts <chapter, verse?>), to partake of the sacrament and celebrate Christ's resurrection. Later Paul de-emphasized the need to follow many Jewish laws/traditions. Eventually, Sunday became the Christian Sabbath.

A few Christian sects currently honor the Sabbath on Saturday, but most use Sunday.
