A political system in which there is no government.

The term anarchy is used to describe two essentially opposite political views, one which supports social order, the other which opposes it.

The first group believes that social order can be preserved by relying on cultural and economic institutions alone, without political insitutions.

The second group believes the social order per se should not be preserved, and opposes cultural, economic, and political institutions equally, often failing to distinguish between them.

Anarchist philosophies include AnarchoCapitalism and AnarchoSyndicalism?.

Famous anarchists include PeterKropotkin? and DavidFriedman?. In 1901, an anarchist named LeonCzolgosz? shot and killed WilliamMcKinley?, the 25th President of the United States.
