A really fun time in French history directly after the French Revolution (about 1792) when people like Robespierre? were running around chopping off the heads of anyone even slightly royal or aristocratic. That's a fun name, isn't it: Robespierre??
Also known as simply The Terror, a period in the history of the French Revolution 1793-1794 characterized by the brutal repression of those suspected of being counterrevolutionary. The Reign of Terror was directed by the Committee of Public Safety, a committee of twelve, including Robespierre??

The Terror is very aptly named. Thousands of innocent persons were tortured and killed, sometimes for their political opinions or actions, but often for no reason whatsoever.
