Changed: 1c1,3
An election system similar to relative majority except that the winner must receive more than half the votes that were cast. When this system is used, it is often necessary to hold a second election round to separate between the top candidates?. As an example, France elects its president by absolute majority; if no candidate gets more than half the votes in the first round, a second round is held with only the top two candidates? from the previous round.
A specific form of runoff voting in which the threshold to be elected is fifty percent of the votes cast and the second ballot contains the top two candidates.

This is the system used to elect a president in France and many other countries.
