The statement that mutagenesis is "the driving force of evolution." is a bit strong. IMHO, "is considered to be the driving ..." or even "is considered to be
a driving ...". Consider [genetic drift]
? for instance. Also there are some (probably all or mostly all outside the citadel of Established Science) that are not at all sure that "evolution of species" is entirely mechanical or randomly driven.
BTW, the phrase [evolution of species]? is more correct than the simple word evolution. Evolution of species is a special case.
