The gnu, also called wildebeest, is a large hooved (ungulate) mammal of the genus Connochaetes?, which includes (examples of Connochaetes), of the family Bovidae?, which includes (examples of Bovidae). The two species (C. gnou, the "black" wildebeest, and C. taurinus, the "blue" wildebeest) are native to Africa.
