In beer terminology, a widget is a controversial device recently added to the bottom of the can which emulates the foaming head which results from true draught beer.

A small plastic bladder is attached to the bottom of a can, out of which nitrogen and beer is forced from small holes when the can is opened. This produces considerable turbulance producing a thick, foaming head full of creamy bubbles. It is a similar effect to beer served through "swan necks".

A widget in programming is a graphical component such as a window or a text box. Programmers use widgets to build graphical user interfaces (GUIs).
