In the 1970s, the city of Washington, D.C. concluded that there was a need for a another large airport (in addition to the [Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport]?) to serve the city and surrounding communities. The airport was constructed in the town of Dulles, and the airport is called Washington Dulles International Airport. The airport serves both as a regional hub and as the international gateway to Washington D.C. It is a very busy airport.
