Waiting for Godot

An absurdist play by Samuel Beckett. An existential work influenced by [Jean Paul Sartre]?, Beckett originally wrote Godot in French (En Attendant Godot), his second language, and the simplicity of the dialogue reflects this. He translated the play himself into English. The plot, such as it is, concerns a few tramps, Vladimir, Estragon, Lucky and Pozzo, who await the arrival of the eponymous Godot. Beckett used their interaction to symbolise the tedium and meaninglessness of modern life, both major themes of the existentialists.
