The Uralic languages are a contrasted family of languages. The best known subfamily is the [Finno-ugric languages]?, which are in turn separated into the [Finnish-Permian languages]? and [Ugric languages]?. The other members comprise the [Samoyedic languages]?. There is some debate about a possible relationship between the family as a whole and the Altaic languages.
