University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology or ,UMIST for short
Originally a spin off from the original Victorian University of Manchester, UMIST gained its independant univeristy charter in the 1950s. UMIST specialises in technical and scientific courses.
It is based in the centre of the City of Manchester
