The
Stern gang (or Lehi) was a
Jewish terrorist group active in the British Mandate of Palestine prior to the founding of the State of Israel and during the ensuing Arab-Israel war of 1948. The Stern gang was founded by Avraham Stern in 1940 as a split off from
Irgun. Following Stern's disappearance in 1942, [Yitzhak Shamir]
