Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan

The Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA) is a grass-roots organization of Afghan women, fighting for basic rights and to maintain something resembling a tolerable standard of living. Much of their current effort involves calling attention to the oppression of women under the Taliban and the unfortunate probability that things would not be much better if the Taliban were replaced by the loose coalition called the Northern Alliance.

They collect funds to support hospitals and schools. They also provide basic education to some Afghan women in violation of Taliban law, which prohibits the education of women.
