The term Prague Spring refers to a critical period during the year of 1968, up to the point when the USSR invaded its satellite state, Czechoslovakia on the 20th August. The reason for the invasion was that the Czechs had shown increasing signs of independence under the leadership of [Alexander Dubcek]?. Dubcek's reforms of the political process inside Czechoslovakia looked very much to the Soviet leadership as though it would export itself to other states shackled beneath the yoke of the Comintern?.
