Moon phases are the definition of the percentage of the moon that is visibly illuminated by the sun as seen from earth. Similarly, with [planetary phases]?.

Also there are phases of matter such as solid, liquid and gas. Also sometimes included in this list are more exotic phases such as plasma, Bose-Einstein condensate, neutronium, [degenerate matter]?, and superfluid.
