actor. Despite numerous roles in theatre, on television and in cinema, Patrick Macnee is still best known for as the inimitable secret agent John Steed in the series
[The Avengers]?, in which he played (chronological order) opposite female partners [Honor Blackman]
? (as Cathy Gale), [Diana Rigg]
? (Mrs Emma Peel) and [Linda Thorson]
? (Tara King). Years later "his" John Steed resurfaced in The New Avengers opposite Joanna Lumley and Gareth Hunt, respectively Purdey and Gambit.
Notable roles further include his part in A View to a Kill, parts in Alias Smith and Jones, and Battlestar Galactica's Count Iblis.
